I'm getting a sport ATV and i need a lightweight trailer for it because i have a very steep driveway. I can't back the car down the driveway because it is too narrow, so i need a trailer that i can pull up my driveway with my hands and hook it up in the street and then obviously put the atv on it. If anyone knows a lightweight trailer i could get for cheap please share. i really can't buy for more than $1000. i know there are aluminum trailers out there. around 5x8 would be ideal.

 

Go to a farm store (like Tractor Supply) or try Lowe's. Got my 4x7 3 years ago for $595 from local farm store but they are closer to $650 now. If I had to do again I'd get a 4x6 from Lowe's. Both I mentioned have different sizes and either steel mesh or wood floors. Lowes.com will tell you what's at your nearest store.

 

HarborFreightTools has them for about $300. You have to put your own
deck on them and get the title/license from your DMV.

I have had one, and they work fine, tho I prefer to weld all the bolted connections,
and repack the wheel bearings as soon as you get it.

 

well i found a 4x6 trailer and the atv i am looking at is 4ft 1in width and 6ft 1 in length, now do the trailers have room for maybe an inch in width and length? i could save a lot of weight with the 4x6

 

Never thought of it. Does it have a ramp or is it a tilt bed? I did take a 4x6 tilt to begin with but when I got home my ride wouldn't tilt it back down driving or backing on, so I brought it back and paid the extra $ for the 4x7. I like the ramp better anyway. If I had known Lowe's offered a 4x6 with ramp I'd have gotten that.

The other thing about the Harbor Freight ones is some of them have folding hitches so they can be put up flat against a wall to store if you want, but as said you have to put your own floor on.

I'll check the width on mine tomorrow to see how true it is to the 4' width.

 

I'm looking at 5x7,4' is cutting it close. I have the same problem, steep gravel drive with little maneuver capability up top. I'd prefer wood flooring but need to keep it light to move around by hand, so I'll probably settle for mesh. Lowes, Tractor Supply or your local co-op are good sources.

 

yeah the mesh seem to be the lightest without having to get aluminum. aluminum is very expensive. but i found a trailer on Home Depot that is 4x6 metal mesh with a ramp and it totals at 310lbs empty. it really seems the way to go. i guess ill have to measure the quad in person before i get the trailer.

 

On my 4x7 the width is actually 48 13/16" (I think that's the right number, it's the one below 15/16). On my Prarie I have maybe 4-5" between my back tires and the rail if I load it dead center. Guess it just depends on the tires/rims and if someone put spacers on to make them wider. I'd sure measure before buying.

 

that was my thought on that, i knew i may have a little extra space even though the official measurements say 4'

 

Even my DVX400 fit this little trailer fine.
