Hello gentlemen,(and ladies?) I just acquired a 1987 LT80 that is not running. It ran when it was parked 2+ years ago. Someone started to take the carb out, and left it disassembled. I am not sure which line goes where. I have a main fuel line, I know where that one goes. Also have 2 small tubes that go to a T in the air filter housing. I have also read a bit about these quads and realize that they are oil injected. This one is not. Perhaps someone removed it already. I am assuming the injector line would go to the brass fitting behind the choke, on the left side of the carb. I will need to plug that fitting off? And what about the lines from the airbox? I see 3 ports on the rt side, The lower one is the fuel inlet. What are the other 2? I will try to post pictures if you think it will help. I also noticed the chain looks very slack. looks like someone tried to do something with a makeshift tensioner, but it looks like two bearings on a bolt??? Thank you for any help. Bill

I can take a pic of my 1988 LT80's carb to help you figure out what from what. I've dumped the injector for pre-mix and I dumped the vacuum petcock for a gravity fed unit...

LT80 I will post pics. I also have an update. I pulled carb apart and cleaned.I got it to run, kind of. It finally started, but will only run with choke out. and if I push choke in while riding full throttle, it will stay running until I slow down, then it dies , unless I pull choke out quick enough. Not sure if carb is still dirty or something else wrong?
Petcock is also leaking, I will need to address that too.

 

What do you guys premix? 32:1 ?

I think oil injection, just cap off? ( or, am I wrong)

 

Linmax made a copy of the LT50, but with premix instead of pumped oil. They put a sticker on it 32 to 1.

 

32:1 is what I usually recommend.
