Polaris 425 Magnum Grinding Issues
Hello I have a late model 95 Polaris Magnum 425 4x4, and a issue has developed where when I go to turn I hear a grinding sound. Sounds like it is coming from the back. Also the swing arm bolt was loose but I recently tightened it and the problem persists. Also the rear shock looks to be more on the left side then in the center. Any help would be highly appreciated greatly, thankyou.

Jack the rear end up and check for any play in the axle. Sounds like something a worn bearing in the eccentric housing making noise. Also check the sprockets and chain.Roll the rear wheel slowly and see if you have a stiff link in the chain. If there is,probably time to change it out.https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/po...4926862686c009 Spring can get weak over time, shocks can leak and need to be replaced also. You can adjust the shock cam adjuster on a stiffer setting to see if that helps. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/po...shock-mounting

You have to remove the rear clutch and backing plate to get to the other swing arm bolt. With a jack under the gear case, see if you can wiggle the swing arm side to side. If you can, then either the other bolt is loose or the bushings need to be replaced. This was common maintenance on these swings arms as they got older.
