Default Creating a Unique Build

Hello everyone my name is Hunt I have never used a forum site but I thought I would start using this one. So heres the topic I recently received a 95' Yamaha Virago 535cc for free as a barn find, now I thought of a crazy idea that i thought would be fun to mess with I also have a 110cc Chinese quad frame laying around so ive already started on taking the engine out of the motorcycle and figuring out how to fit it on the frame. The engine is shaft driven but I believe I have thought of a way to make it convert to a chain. Just wanted to post this and see what all of you had to say on the subject. And please feel free to drop some pics of your previous builds.

Welcome to the forums.

First thing I would have to wonder, how strong is that frame? Early chinese imports were known to have the frame break with the 110 and smaller motors.

Yeah...couple challenges...depending on the motor, converting from shaft to chain can be problematic as the output shaft generally needs to be re-directed 90 degrees...I know on the Vmax that's a tall task...not sure about the Virago.

Next is stuffing it into a 110cc frame...I'd strip it, check the welds and probably weld in stiffeners to account for the extra weight and torque that motor will create...

Sounds like fun...my avatar is my son's heavily modified LT80 (LT80R now)...

Hello everyone I am actually both excited and very happy you guys responded so first off thank you for the reply. Ill address what you guys have said first off my 110cc frame is pretty sturdy but I will definitely have to add some decent reinforcements. And the output shaft on engine already put out on a right angle I have had some 3D design experience in the past and have already designed a way to change it to chain, as soon as im done with the conversion I will attempt to post some picks of it. Also I will say I am obviously gonna extend the frame for this build because mounting of the output shaft is a bit smashed in there due to the rear end being a little cluttered. PS i am trying to use everything I can from the bike including the speedometer, lights, fuel pump, reserve tank, and the throttle. Idk bout using the blinkers yet but they are a definite possibility.
