2005 Sportsman 500 HO electrical problems
Hello, my 2005 Sportmans 500 HO was dead, none of the electronics worked, no head lights, gauge console, starter-NOTHING! I tested the battery it had 12 Volts but no amps. I replaced the battery and when I installed the new battery the fan runs with the kill switch in the off position and the ignition is also off. When I put the key in the ignition and turn it to start, the starter turns but doesn’t engage. Also the gauge console and headlights don’t work when the key is in the accs or start position. I replaced all the electrical connections about 4 years ago due to corrosion. Wondering if anyone else has had the same problems and what solutions you came up with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

the ""Power distribution module" did three things. It was a voltage regulator, fan control, and circuit breakers for the system. I'll look at a manual Monday and see if I can help you do some tests to determine if it's the cause.
I doubt it's going to be the starter issue, my guess is the bendix is not working.

The bendix is turned by the starter motor and centrifugal force causes another gear to rotate and move towards the flywheel, engaging the teeth and turning the motor over. When the start button or key is released, the gear disengages from the flywheel and moves back toward the starter out of the way.
its inside the recoil housing. The starter does not have to be removed to replace it.
Google Polaris 3087030 and you can find a pic of it.

This was where I got mine from. I actually returned the first one I got under warranty. Thought it was defective, but ended up being that kill switch. They were great to deal with, no questions asked, and super fast shipping.
