The Warrior would be more fun than a Cat. I used to ride my Warrior through mud, over trees, and around in little circles in the snow. (Donuts) The Warrior won't go to far in the snow but it's fun trying. My Recon was alot easier to ride on tight trails because of the semi-auto and tighter turning radius. If your going to be riding slower most of the time (like 10 to 18mph) then maybe you should get something geared a little lower. Riding through mud will depend on the tires you have on it. The tires (Viper A/T) that I had were terrible and would spin on grass. Where the Goodyears on the Recon would dig down past the grass into the dirt. Just make sure you have the bottom and rear protected with some skids. Ground clearance would be my biggest concern on the trails.
