Nothing wrong with having one of each. I like 2 strokes. See sig below. I would personally opt for the YZ125 over the 250f for the pure adrenaline rush of the 2 stroke. Your bike your choice .

It all depends on your riding situation. I have a YZ450F, Banshee, Raptor660R, and a Blaster. I love the power band of my Banshee in the dunes! its the best. But, I love my YZ450F because it feels like a two stroke, it just rips in the desert. The Raptor also can be riden either in the desert, dunes, or woods. The Blaster is also a blast to ride. Don't discriminate between the two. 4 stroke tech. has come long way and its the future of our sport. Sure, 2 strokes are cheaper to maintain, but 4 strokes aren't that bad either. The question is do you like hard hitting power band or torque? My YZ450F feels like 2 stroke, but with lots more torque. Another thing is what do your buddies have? I have the YZ450F, but it hardly gets used because all my buddies have quads. In my opinion, you really can't mix the two when it comes to riding in groups. Quads are a blast and if you want one get the new YFZ450R. And if you still want a bike, nothing wrong with a YZ250F. It all depends on your situation. Good luck!

Well since eeryone is saying go with the 125 i say screw the 2 stroke go with the 4. It has more top end power it can rev to about 13,000 rpm and it has torque to boot copared to the 2 stroke.

Actually the 250F four stroke will rev higher than the 125 two stroke. It makes power all the way to the redline too. I know it sounds strange, but in this one case, the four stroke will turn more rpm and make more power at those revs. That's why they dominate 125 supercross. (except for James Stewart but he could win on a four stroke 80)

When it comes to bikes and MX racing its really and truthfully all rider!!! I ride ALL YZF bikes in MX!! My favorite is my 285!!! I have raced and won in all classes I race in on it!! I have also owned a YZ125 and will say without question the 250F makes ALOT more power from bottom to TOP and you don't have to clutch the 4 stroke in order to stay in the meat of the powerband!!! Definately what you should do is ride a YZ125 and then ride a YZ250F, I ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE YOU WILL SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN POWER!!!!!!!!!!! The 250F pulls SO much harder than does the 125!!! Most people will tell you to look at whats dominating in the 125's out west which is the 4 strokes, don't pay that to much attention because those riders that are winning could also win on a 2 stroke!! The 4 stroke is ALOT more reliable and I have had my 250F since the first 02 model's came out and out of all 3 of my YZF bikes the 250F has had only 1 problem that being the valves which I adjusted wrong!! The 125 requires ring change, piston, and top and bottom end rebuild ever so often!!! The 250fs simply require and oil change ever so often and filter cleaning after each ride(which you should do anyway no matter what you ride)!!!!!! You be the judge!! You will DEFINATELY spend more money keeping the 2 smoker going!! I'm not saying that because I am being biased against the 2 stroke because I owned them up until the 4 strokes came out, I'm just telling you that from experience!

As far as Stewart winning on an 80 in the 125 class!!! Come on guys he would get SMOKED!! Tidesco would walk away from him with no problem!!!
