how does the z400 and raptor compare. top end, acceleration, durability, trail riding, drag races etc...

 

I would say the raptor has the top end and accelration. But overall i like the z/kfx better. In the trails i like the z/kfx.

The drag races are pretty close but the raptors wins.

 

alot of it has to do with gearing, and the rider. are u talking about stock machines or non stock. but gearing is alot to do with it.

raptors are great trail machines and are faster in a straight line. They also do well on the dunes. The z is best on the mx track, it will kill the raptor there. How big are you? You might feel tiny on the raptor if you are small, or huge for the z if you are larger. A piped raptor should beat a piped z as well.

 

I would say that a rappy should excel in the drags against the 400, on the tracks, i dont know.

 

What about a piped Z vs a stock Raptor. How would that compare. I see people making claims like 5-7 HP gain with a slip on pipe. If that is true that would put the Z right there with the Raptor for HP but I know the Raptor still has more torque. I am really considereing one of these 2 quads. I am 6"2 190lbs, would the z feel small for me? I also really just do trail riding but would want something still quick with a good top end. I read the article in Dirt Wheels about the Z vs. Raptor and they gave the Z the win overall. Seems crazy a 400cc can compete with 660cc. Really, how much different are they in power?

 

A piped Z will still have a hard time with a stock Rap. If both riders were equal in skill I'd say the Rap would still edge the Z.

 

Takes more then a pipe on a Z400 to beat a stock Raptor.


They have several similar features, but the 660 takes the Z in almost every department as far as I'm concerned. Dont' know much about the MX track, but in drag's and overall power and acceleration, the Z doesn't even compare. The two bikes aren't even in the same league.

 

When my rappy was bone stock i raced a kfx400(same as a z400) that had a full LRD with uni filter and no lid. The kfx and rap were dead even through 2nd gear and when i hit third the rap pulled away pretty easily. In the trails i rode both bikes alot and i will say the 400's are a tad better in the tighter trails and the rappy is better in the wider trails. 400's jump a bit better and are much easier to jet. I would rate them equal but in my opinion there's not a better looking quad out there than the Raptor.
