What is so special about a 400 EX engine that makes everyone like it? It isn't that powerful compared to other 400 engines in dirt bikes. In fact, it is the least powerful.

I don't think very many people love the engine. Mainly the handling and suspension, I don't own one but I've ridden many, along with other quads and it's nothing special at all

It's not really that fast i rode doug gust's piped 400ex and my mojave is just about as fast if i did some engine work and can keep up with it.

HILLSVILLE69 Jul 22, 2000 10:09 AM

Mxracer98 Jul 22, 2000 12:17 PM

The only thing about it was it had really good mid-range. it felt too tall

skull Jul 22, 2000 04:56 PM

yea GEE I wonder how a machine that sux so bad can sell so many units. people must be dumb.

WyoRider Jul 22, 2000 05:06 PM

Skull, well to answer your question about how a machine that sucks so bad can sell so well. One word...... POLARIS

ATV_MAN Jul 22, 2000 05:28 PM

Well dirtbikes...of course.

You have to have 2 times as much power on an ATV to go as fast as a dirtbike. so a 400 atv would equal a 200 dirtbike.
So the 400 EX is a good quad. you need some learning to do.

rmx251 Jul 22, 2000 07:09 PM

Do I really "need some learning to do"? Engines produce the same HP in dirt bikes and ATV's, the difference is that an ATV weighs 150+ pounds more than a dirt bike. Maybe you "need some learning to do".
