A few years ago, I remember a post from someone on sanding/polishing fenders, he said to start with a coarser one to take big scratches out, then work down to a 400 - 600 grit. When done, the plastic will be all white and hazy from sanding scratches, then you use a fine polish ( I think he recommended 3M Metal Brite, but others should work). Then use a buffer with a FOAM pad, cloth pads will heat up and burn your plastic, and buff until smooth. spray down with Son of a Gun or Armor All, wiped down, and it should shine real nice. I'm thinking of doing this to my quads this winter, summer riding is hard on shiny fenders with all the grit in sand and mud.

You should sand down to at least 800 grit and if you want to be professinal go all the way down to 1500-2000 grit. Then buffer and polish.

Circular motion works best. I just did my sons wheeler but I painted it. the paint is holding for now. I don't know how long or how well it will hold, but gives a good custom look.
