Default retapping stripped thread

my friend has a yfz and he has stipped the thred on his swing arm where the skid plate would go..i have a tapp and dye kit how do i retap it what do i use do i just spin it in the hole or what do i do

You are probably going to have to go to the next size larger.....you can try just tapping it out, but my guess is you will have to drill the old threads out, and retap them again with the size reccommended on the box(or size that fits).....don't forget to use lube, and take it slow.....also no drills to tap with, use the hanlde thingy.

There is no harm in trying to chase the stripped threads, you can't wreck them twice! if the origin of the threads are ok you'll be ok, other wise drill it out the next size and use the tap handle to spin the tap

be sure when your tapping it that you take little bites at it,screw it in a half turn then back out and repeat untill its finished..
