RPM for a Banshee
Hey guys, Whats the Red Line for a stock Banshee? I hears a raptor was 9000, and 9500 with a pipe. Is it around 11,000?
Thanks Ed |

It depends on what type of pipe you have.

Just a little info. A stock Banshee wont pull more than around 8500 rpms. Even with pipes and no porting it wont make power past that point. My Banshee made it's max power at around 9200 on the dyno and fell off sharply at 10,600. That's with CPI pipes,porting,35.5 carbs, etc.

sory for misleading info, it sounds pretty fast though

for any bike to rev at 12,000 rpm is incredibly fast. even the new 450s don't reve past 11,000 and with an aftermarket CDI i think the most they rev to is around 11,500.

I didnt have time to list it all, but it is advanced 7 degrees, and on straight 110 race gas. It is not ported for all out top end, but I do have it set at 196 degrees on the exhaust and that makes good decent top end.
By the way Trey, if you ever decide to port your Banshee you will have to lose those T6 pipes. They suck with ported jugs. |

yeah unfortunatly that is what i hear, and that is something that I am prob going to do, the T5 works well with those mods though doesnt it, but I am thinking Paul Turners are the way to go

I have several buddies running the T-5's and I believe they are the best all around pipe you can buy. If we didnt race so much I would trade my CPI's for a set.

what makes the T6's so bad when you are doing major mods

The best I can explain is that the expansion chamber is designed for the stock exhaust duration. When you go modifying the exhaust port you change when the pressure wave reflects back to the cylinder. If the timing isn't right then power is no good. I ported a set of jugs to my standard all around port that had a set of T-6's on it. The power was great until about 3/4 up the rpm scale then it went flat. It wouldnt rev out good. We did nothing but put a set of T-5's on it and then it really woke up. Power down low was the same but screamed on top end. If you notice every set of T-5's that go on e-bay sell for a great price because people know they work.

Are you sure a banshee cant pull more then 8500RPM stock? its such a tiny piston? In my manual it says my LT can churn 9000 RPM!

I'm sure it can turn more rpms than that, but where does it make it's actual power? Chances are at around 8000 it falls off bad.My bike made it's max power on the dyno at 9200rpms and went flat at 10,600. It is definitely far from stock.

i get what u say, maybee you can pull upwards of 9k in 1st-2ed gear, but the motor has a hard time holding that rpm. Thx for clearing it up.
