I have just sold my '04 Z400, and have the opportunity to buy either a 2002 Raptor or a 2004 Arctic Cat DVX400. I would like some advice to which is the better bike. Both are brand new condition, the Raptor with haulers and a pipe. My husband has the DVX and loves it, but I don't know if I should take advantage of the opportunity to get the Raptor. I don't know much about the Raptor, or which would be better mechanically.Please help!

UUmmm..You just sold your Z..now you are looking at an 04 DVX?

You realize they are one in the same..Z400 and DVX 400?

Anyway..Most will tell you to ride both then decide..Thats logical thinking..and keep in mind what kind of riding your doing..Trail..sand..stunt.

Rappy is awesome for sand as ALL will say..lacks in my opion on the tighter trails in the woods to the DVX

If you go to the suzki category of course they will brag and boast about how they have beaten a Rappy..or they have seen a 400 out acclerate the Rappy...same in the Yamaha forum..they will give stats that mostly useless for riders that dont drag/hill climb..Ice race...j/k Maddog[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

I'm not sure why you would sell your Z and buy a DVX either? Did you not like something about your Z? If so, then you'll probably not like the same thing about the DVX unless it's the plastics. The Raptor is completely a different bike, of course. Quite a bit bigger, but that doesn't mean you'll always beat a 400 either. Depends on the rider and riding spot/conditions. Personally, I think for trails I'd be satisfied with the DVX. It just depends on your intentions. I've also heard from many, many people that the Raptor isn't as easy to handle in the tight trails. That's why I can't make up my mind either. Good luck with your decision, and yes, ride both before deciding!

 

I do realize they are the same bike, but where we ride is saturated with white Z's. I just want something a little different. I had the AC shipped down to me, and at the same time was given the option to buy the Raptor. Now I am not sure what I want. That is why I was curious of which everyone thought was a better choice.

 

If you're dune riding go Raptor. If you're trail riding go DVX/Z/KFX.

 

The DVX is very cool looking but be prepared to be covered in mud or whatever your riding in since it basically has no fenders.Also the seat is as hard as a rock and much narrower than the Suzuki's.It's great for racing but can get a little uncompfterable on long trail rides.

 

do not get a raptor they are junk
well they're ok but the z,dvx,kfx400 is a much better machine
the only thing thats bad about them is the swing arm its a piece of crap

 

the DVX does have a very hard seat. the Raptor with a pipe is a much stronger quad. since the raptor has paddles it sounds like you will ride the dunes in which case get the raptor. 02 they fixed the trans in the raptor and you can get anything for a Raptor.

 

I agree with pretty much everyone here.
Dunes go with the Raptor because it's a lot more powerful.

Trails the DVX.

Personally I'll take a Raptor on the trails over a DVX. Mind you i'm talking a a raptor that has better shocks and a-arms.
I just like the extra torque.
