As an owner of the EX I think it is an awsome trail machine. Personally I would get what feels better to you. Weigh the pros and cons and decide for yourself (color, water cooled vs air cooled, price, looks, handling (which is pretty equal), etc).

If you are buying brand new the 05' Z, KFX, and DVX all have new front shocks that I hear are nice. The 05' EX also now has reverse (no big deal to most). Ultimately you are the one that will be spending the money so get the one you like the best otherwise you will be purchasing a quad based on the opinion of someone else and you may not like what they like.

Both quads you are asking about are great trail machines.

 

I am in a similar situation. My wife will be trails, but I will be dunes. When we go as a family, I will be on my bike so the wife will have the ATV. I have seen a ton of people who prefer the Z for a bunch of things, but I have been leaning towards the Predator. I was looking at the Raptor 660, but to many complaints about it being tipsy. I would probably go the Z, but my wife likes the TLE orange over the yellow.

 

The 05 DVX didnt get the new resi shocks like the KFX/Z did. If your woman likes orange, the KFX has alot more orange than the Predator...

 

Why is it that so many people push the Z and not the KFX? From what I have been told, they are exactly the same, just different color plastic. Is that true?

 

Yes they are the same but, the Z was out first so I think everybody is used to calling it "the Z and its clones".
