a 300cc, i'm not greedy. gotta be a honda 4 stroke.
a utility-based bike but with sport fenders, and a trailer hitch of course.
the ability to haul a pop-up camper.
as buddy said, cold storage for beer, and ***** of course.
adjustable air-ride suspension, hard for jumps, soft for trails.
street legal.
6 speed w/ reverse after neutral ie r-n-123456
removable cabin for winter
optional tracks for snow
traction control. (kidding)
a heavy enough front end to do burnouts.

Think of the best handling quad you've ever ridden with no shifting. Imagine how fast most of us could ride on something like that.

I'll still stick to my manual shift though, automatics take some of the fun out of it for me. Getting to know the track and figuring out the best shift points is all part of the game. Not to mention you don't get as much of a sense of speed with a CVT. Normally I judge my speed on the track by what gear i'm in and how hard the engine is revving. For example, I know to land the tabletop on the back stretch of rausch's natural terrain mx track i gotta hit the ramp 3rd gear pinned. With a cvt the gearing is unlimited, and the engine is always at the same rpm, that would really throw me for a loop because i'd have to guess at my speed or watch a speedometer every time.

It would be an MX quad... but so powerful u couldnt hold on to it! example a 500cc 2 stroke engine in a light weight frame, 50 inches wide, perfect squat to the bike, 6 speed tranny, 18in tires on the back like the lt450r, Ohlins sustpention all around with 15in or more of travel!!! super light weight aluminum or cromoly swing arm, carbon fiber A-arms ( i dont know if they would hold up))) if not that cromoly A-arms,, colors are black or white plastics,, total weight of the quad is 290 or 300 pounds dry weight... frame no bigger than the 450r frame.. I hate the lt500's long frame! but that would be my perfect quad!

Mine would have the suspension from an LTR450, the ergo's somewhere between a YFZ and a Raptor (just a bit more seat height and bar height than the YFZ has now), weigh around 370, and have a 550cc V-twin 60 degree motor with good heads that will spin to 10,000 and have good torque off the bottom. Oh and a factory bracket for a nitrous bottle because everyone's gonna buy one and you gotta get a leg up.

Originally posted by: recon99At first when I saw CVT on your list I thought "eew, why would you want that". Then after I thought about it, it probably would be a decent advantage, especially for less experienced riders, to be in the perfect gear all the time.
Now it also does do all the things you mentioned and would require a lot of people to re-learn the way they ride.

CVT's suck a$$. I hate mine more and more everytime I take it out, mostly because I don't particularly like turning 10K rpm's whether putting around camp or when I actually need it. And they tend to hinder performance because of a limited range. If there was any advantage from a performance point of view, it would already be in a sport quad. But there isn't.
