Default Scrambler, Wolverine, 400ex...

I am looking into buy a ATV and am thinking about either a Scrambler or a Wolverine because where I ride there is alot of creeks with mud and steep muddy hills so 4x4 would be a huge plus i think...but i have also had slight interest in the 400EX it seems like it does not do to bad for not coming in 4x4 on the trail scene...My friends drive Utes(Artic Cat 700, Grizzly 700 to name a few) and i need something that can keep up with them if we are traveling down some back roads and on the trails..

Scrambler. That AWD really kicks butt. And the 2wd is fun in the sand and loose dirt.

AS flyin said thw awd is great and im sure that the scram is faster than the the wolverine and if it was one of the 500 scramblers it would easily out run the 400es those 500's are fast....

As far as the 400EX goes, you need to analyze your riding conditions and decide if a 2wd sport will cut it. Maybe with a set of the new Mud Lite SP's on it, it might do the job??????

All I can say about the Scrambler is that the few hours I have spent on them were not a particularly pleasent experience! Absolutely terrible ergonomics........

The Wolverine might just be your ticket. It doesn't have the horsepower of the big bore quads, but you should be able to out maneuver them in the twisty stuff.

my friends dad has an '05 500 scrambler and i rode it this weekend, it was alright but couldnt keep up if we got on a straight away, but the AWD makes for a nice feature the others sports don't imma try to get my hands on a 400ex and a z450 will the stock tires cut it for trail riding with a lil mud or will i have to get some different ones ?

I bought the Wolvy because of the 4x4 feature, I stay in 2wd most of the time but it is nice to have 4x4. I went Yamaha because of their reliability(I have owned 5 of them for atleast 10years plus the new wolvy 450) have never had any problems with any of them.

I wish the notion of a hybrid quad (like the Wolverine idea, but lighter and with a manual trans) would catch on with more manufacturers. Most folks are just casual trail riders and don't really need a large heavy utility, yet could use 4wd once in a while if they get into trouble out on the trail. It could be the best of both worlds.........

We have a wolverine 450 and love it. It is tough and goes anywhere you want. Pretty nice for a sporty 4x4.
