New 700 Raptor or DS650? Can't decide
I'm looking to get one of these new. Alot of trail, jumping. I hear people rave about the DS650, but at ~100 lbs heavier, ~50cc short, and Carbs instead of FI, not sure I believe it's the best (Plus I find reverse kinda handy). Does anyone have experience with both? Any help will be appreciated, Greg.

I'd only buy a ds650 if i was 250lb+ and like 6'4".
the raptor 700 would be my first choice for next quad. They are FAST and good all around trail quad. |

See what fits you best. If you are a husky fella I would look at the DS, if you are like me and just average size, Raptor 700 all the way.

Thanks, I'm 6'1", 205 trying for 185 again (was 165 until I started working for the State ), so it's looking like the Raptor is what I want. I have a DVX400, and I like the weight of it, seems like the Raptor is closer. Also, I saw the Raptor is fuel injected, is that ELECTRONIC FI? I am guessing so. Thanks, Greg.

Raptor are nice. Never have to jet, easy to tune with a power commander and they are quick. I had a KFX-700 before and liked it, but like the DS it was too big for me. When it got in a bad way it was gone, nothing I could do to stop it with my size. You will like the rappy, fun bikes!

I think the DS is a little outdated against the Raptor... If your gonna ride lots of trails, maybe go with the rappy. EFI and reverse comes pretty handy.
The DS is a little wider... but the suspension soaks up the bumps very well. Can keep up with the 700R on the trails Both bikes you can jump (rappy a lot lighter) and cant go wrong with either. |

Thanks all, I found out I could get a 700 Raptor GYTR for less than a ds650 (several hundred less after the salesman shaved a bit more off), and went for it. No complaints so far except for some reason I thought it came with handguards. No biggie, I can pick up set anywhere. I haven't had the need, or courage to adjust the shocks any, , all in due time though. I LOVE the powerband of it though, power everywhere it seems, and only ~30lbs heavier than my DVX400. Lots of little features that are very nice icing on the cake: Love the idiot-proof parking brake (I hate the style on many others, including the DVX), love the LED tail lights, the sound is awesome for a stock ride. I like it how the lights can be turned ON without taking a hand off the bars (On the DVX, the on-off was by the key, high-low on the bars). LOVE how easy it starts with FI. . Love it how it can be started in neutral without having to pull in the clutch.
Anyways, thanks for the help deciding. . Greg. |
