NEW BANSHEE OR 400EX? WHICH ONE TO BUY

Dune_Scooter 01-23-2000 05:28 PM

your opening up a can of worms with your question. They are both very good bikes. They both have good and bad points to them. They are both quick. The 4 stroke hooks up better on hard pack surfaces than a 2 stroke will, but the 2 stroke is better in softer conditions such as sand. The suspension is better on the 400ex. Its also easier to ride. A 4 stroke is a bit more forgiving and you can lug it out of a hole unlike a 2 stroker. They are both fun and your gonna find a different response from everyone. We all have our preference on honda or yamaha. The honda is the new bike on the block and a nice ride too. The yamaha is an older design, but still is a fun bike and there are alot of modifications available.
Buy what is going to work best for you and enjoy.

nicely put, Dune.
JHR, you posted under "buying a quad" stating that you ride mostly trails...the ex will perform much better for you in the woods and is still ready for the track. The banshee is high strung and needs open room to be on top of it's game.
I smell worms!

why is everyone telling me the 400ex. is it that much better than the banshee. my first instinct was to get the banshee, but now i dont know. more info needed please...

Both are fine machines,no doubt about it.
But maintenance should be considered. The maintenance on the 400ex is very low compared to the Banshee. Two strokes usually don't last as long between rebuilds.

well the banshee you have to wind out to some high RPMs to get the full power and torque, a four stroke such as the 400EX you all ways have a high power curve, a steady transport of power. both good qauds, go with the HOnda.

I agree with both Dune Scooter and EXtreme. I think they answered your question as good as can be. If you ride in the woods alot the ex is probably the way to go. Also it depends on if you like 2-strokes or 4-strokes. The banshee is a killer bike and in a drag race it will beat a stock 400ex. I have 3 friends with banshees and all of them have said that although the banshee is faster, the 400ex is real fun to ride because it wheelies in any gear without much effort and it can lug out of the corners should you miss a gear or whatever. Don't know if this helps but hope so. Which ever way you decide you will be getting an awsome bike. Good Luck, Mike
