Default 2006 KFX 400 starting and gear issues

Ok so last fall I bought myself a 2006 kfx 400. It ran flawless all winter through early this summer. Recently, it has been having starting problems. When I start it, it does not sound normal and it sometimes takes a little to get it started. It is starting to get worse so I don't want to ruin it... On the other topic, when I drive low second gear (haven't driven low in any other gear), it tends to make a knocking and clicking sound kinda like something is bouncing around. But it only does it in low second gear. Any help or advice is appreciated

Update: just took the beast for a spin and I turned it off to look at fish... Tried to start it and it was wasn't kicking in to start. It was just making a ringing noise and nothing else. I waited a few minutes then started it and it fired right up. Is it the starter? I'm not too advanced so I don't know if it could be that.

Yes, it does sound like your starter, probably the solenoid. As far as hard starting, you may need to do a valve adjustment. If you don't have a service manual, you need to get one.

is a valve adjustment something that I should get a pro to do it? Or is that something that is actually really easy and simple to do?

It depends on how mechanically inclined you are and what kind of tools you have. As I stated previously, you need to get yourself a service manual if you plan on hanging on to your KFX. A valve adjustment is a pretty simple thing. It is usually more troublesome getting to the valves due to everything that has to be removed to get to them. Do a search on YouTube. You should be able to find something, then you can decide if you want to try it on your own.
