Default 87+ lt250r pipe on 85/86 lt250r

Is this even possible. I havn't tried, and I am guessing that it can't be done, but I am wondering if anyone has tried to put a pipe from an 87 or later pipe on to an 86 quadracer. My guess is that the frame gets in the way. Is it close at all? I am wondering because it is easier and cheaper to get a pipe for the later quadracers.

It’s not even close. On the 85-86 LTs the frame has a bar right in front of the motor where the pipe would go on the 87+LTs. On the later models, that bar splits into 2 and goes around the pipe. On the 85-85's the exuast comes out of the head to the left of the bar on the newer ones it’s straight forward.

Yeah, I kinda figured. I owned an 87 lt250 about 6 months ago and just eyeballed a comparison to my 86. Just curious if anyone actually tried.
