For the $$$ the yfz better be faster, but I seen a yfz this weekend at a state comp. lose to a z by at least 5sec. The only motor mods on the z were filter, jets, & yosh slip-on.

Trust me it's more like 40. riding one is more proof than a dyno sheet. Trying to get different dyno's
to agree with each other is like getting a Democrat & a Republican to agree. The best test is throwing
the bike on a drag strip. Eventually everyone will see & understand. I don't care if it dyno's at 3 HP.
It sure feels like no other stock quad I have a ridden.

Isn't the YFZ based on the 450F engine off their 450 dirt bike? I thought that engine was about like Honda's CRF450, whick makes around 55 HP? By the time you get it to the wheels, should be low to mid 40s. Those FMF numbers in the 30s seem awful low, especially since Kawa is advertising 50 HP to the ground on their new 700. But for what its worth, hats off to you and your Z for keeping up with the YFZ. Hopefully the yamaha guys won't get too cocky.

The biggest "feeling" difference on the YFZ is the 39mm FCR carb. That's a kick butt carb. It makes the hit harder than a dumb old CV carb like on the Z.

What's my point? But an FCR on the Z and it will feel like 40hp too. Put the 36mm CV on the YFZ and it will feel like a Z.

IF U GUYS GO TO yfzracer.com, they have a video of a yfz TOTALLY SMOKING a slightly modded Z400. now, when i first saw this i was like wait a second, i thought a Z would lose but not THAT bad. i mean the Z lost so bad that it was like a cartoon or sumthin...i def know for a fact a Z would not lose that bad to a yfz...i think that they did that on purpose to make people buy the yfz alot more over the Z since its popular. i think yamaha was being a total jackass in that video. u gotta see it. yfzracer.com

Now I don't doubt that the YFZ will beat a Z pretty easily, but that video is bullshiz!!! The guy on the Z looks like he got out of it in the middle. JMO

HAAH!! That video is such a joke it's not even funny. At the end "This Z beats most piped raptors".. ya, sure.

Looks like the Yami fans have a new "banshee" to brag up.. seeing as how most modded shees make 100hp..haha..
