I agree, as long as the trail is not too technical, and you need to do a bit of crawling, It's good on the trails.

Sams, your post hits on exactly what I tried to explain in my opening post. I think the whole car comparison threw many people off, it was rather long. Like you said, no pro racer rides on a stock quad. A purpose built machine shouldnt bending arms either... for the typical trail rider, the YFZ just doesnt make sense. The only person the YFZ is good for a person who wants to race is on a budget, but then again, 7k will break a lot of people...

i like how everyone seems to be an expert on how much hp the yfz will be able to make. lets hear from someone who really does:
make sure to read the 1st page for the mods, and then the second to see the dyno numbers. 60 hp seems very obtainable. with stock dispalcement no less.

just my 2pence worth but im sick of hearing about the new yamaha there so much hype it realy turns me off, im bored of the machine already and i aint even seen one in the flesh,

cant wait for the honda hype to kick in, YAWN

as far as i see the only good thing to come out of any of this is the fact the manufacturers are taking the atv racing sene seriously and thats good for everyone who wants to race,

its prety sad that the top machinary around as far as most are concerned is is 10 years old or so,

yam should have done this years ago and suzuki should have done the z400 when they discontinued the zilla

maybee then we would realy have something to talk about today when a new bike comes on the scene,

who knows maybee one day ill be ready to part with my 13 year old dinosaur,

A pipe on a Z wont make up for the gap on power, a piped jetted and filtered z is even with me in a drag without my 2nd intake.

Well, ok, the tie rods are made of what now? Oh yes, steel. The rim? Thats it, aluminum. Well, I sure hope Yamaha kept the tie rods steel too, or they could be in trouble. Rims are wide, hard to bend (unless youre racing), and I managed to bend one, aluminum is not up for racing duties. Im 15 and managed to make a mess out of my quad, I went down hard, as well have many other people, and people who race will crash too. If its hard enough, they get a big DNF by their name.Text

how many ppl do you see racing with steel wheels or a all steel atv??? dude if atv's were all made of steel a stock sport atv would weigh as much as a sportsman 700... not really but ya know.... aluminum is the answer not steel... a lighter fourwheeler is always a better 4 wheeeler...

and who cares about your dads saleen... my 300zx would take it anyday, right now its pushin around 480rwhp.. hope to get it up to 525 by next spring but thatll be about 5000 and dont know if i want to spend it on that or my suzuki.

and the yfz is alright but i havent been beat by one yet... jsut had a mx race this past weekend and the dude had a yfz widen out with elka's and a pipe.. still beat em i think he finished 5th or 6th behind some z's and some ex's... and a stock ex handles bette than a z... who cares about reverse if you dont know how to whip a atv around you shouldnt be riding... leave the reverse switch to the utilitys
