The headlight on my LT 250 R is an $8.00 round, adjustable floodlight powered by 4 "D" batteries bought from Sears. IT is held in the stock location by 2 hoseclamps bolted together (saving up the $$$ to upgrade to 1 single hoseclamp! lol). Works quite well actully. And in a variety of colors!.

Clark,
My LT 250 R is missing all of the electrical parts needed for a "real" lighting system. Being it is a former racer, it has been stripped of ALL parts not needed, and probabaly some needed parts as well! NOr is it worth it to go hunting for the parts as this machine is going to be replaced (it will make a good backup ride) at some point, soon hopefully! I will admit though that i had thought about a good aftermarket lighting system. RoostKing... p.s. Plus it doubles as a flashlight in camp! How many quad lighting systems do you know of that can be so useful! [This message has been edited by RoostKing (edited 09-11-1999).] |

'86 lt250r - 100% stock. I originally bought it for my wife, but she likes my banshee better. Now I'm the proud Suzuki owner. Anyone have tips on how to make these things as fast as a banshee? I've got to at least keep up with my wife; my buddy's jokes are getting old.
Just added: .020" wiseco porting .015" milled head boyesen reed 36 pj keihin [This message has been edited by jeffsouza (edited 10-07-1999).] |
Jeff,
You'd better get a thick skin! Unless you plan on sticking either a banshee motor in your LT or are going to find a snowmobile motor, you wont ever be able to even keep up with your wife. Some things you could do are the standard pipe, porting, a carb change. One of the cheapest and most effective mod for any high-performance quad would be a change of gear ratio. I went from a 12 tooth countershaft sprocket (the front) to an 11 tooth sprocket. This helped acceleration quite a bit, although I did lose some top-end, but that was to be expected. Try getting rid of un-needed equipment for wieght savings. If you are really serious about trying to catch our wife, you could get a stroker kit that will bump up your CC's to 300 or 325. Hope this helps. RoostKing 85 LT 250 R, piece of junk... P.s. I did do this trick to a friend so i could beat his banshee. Try taking one spark plug off. Let them run on 1 cyl. until they figure out the problem!. That allowed me to be king, for about 20 minutes! |

The quad is in mint origional condion with over 160psi dry compresion. That is something considering the LT has the origional piston and rings in it. I am afraid to get it dirty. Just ask Roostking I sent him some pictures. How do you put pictures in here? Any tips on LT's welcome. Take care Wild Wheels Duke |
when you do your first top end, take a dremel and polish the ports and swirl chambers, take off any casting edges that might restrict air flow inside the cylinder and case. however do not modify the angles or size of any of the ports. keep the factory specs and you keep reliability and boost HP.
this was done on my '91 and it really rips, my next move will be the delta-V reed block, a 38mm pwk flat slide carb, prm skids, grab bar and bumper. and more polished aluminum parts.... ------------------ ahhh! the taste of unburnt hydrocarbons in the morning, gotta love it! Guys
I have a near stock 92 lt250R Purchased it 6months ago with less tha 10 hrs total time, was in storage several years and yeah it's way better than a Banshee......... Current mods: biff the airbox lid and filter, fitted a twin air foam replacement. stock setup is pretty restrictive..... Added Boyseen reeds to the stock cage, big improvement to the midrange. Added an FMF muffler, that stock rear can is a real HP drain... mayor improvement in midrange and a vast improvement to the top end. ha dto jet from a stock 260 to a 310 main to get it performing nicely and lift the needle !!!! Fit on the muffler was really crappy and heat radiation toasted a piece of my mint orginal rear fender - AAARGGH. Okay guys would like to hear your opionions on pipes, current candidates are FMF / Paul Turner / CT / Trinity. The 91/92 have a different rear shock than earlier models. Has anyone had any experience on revalving etc as I find the mid stroke damping very harsh ??? any suggestions. the LT is one cool machine and as someone else has said "never ride red....." |
Tell me about your quadracer.
86 LT250. Bought 12 years ago from a guy who thought it was blown for $700. Cleaned the carb and got rid of the crud and it ran great for the next ten years. I added a FMF pipe soon after I bought it, but that was it. One year ago I got a little money and began to play.
.020 over wiseco piston Boyeson reeds Renthal bars DG aluminum Nerfs Works front shocks Chromed stock headlight and front bumper Stock front plastics that have been raced cut Black\yellow seat cover Douglas wheels Skat Trak Haulers and mohawk type front tires for Glamis Keihin 35pwk Ported and polished top end Stage 1 Ribbed inline aluminum cooler K&N air filter with air box gone. E-brake eliminated. Roost Boost Stock gearing The bike runs pretty good. After the stock carb, I tried a Mikuni 38mm from a quadzilla. Ran it for a year and determined it was too much carb. PLus it didnt fit worth a damn, and leaked like crazy if i didnt turn the gas off. Now I have a Keihin 35pwk and i am still in the tuning process. It is brand new and all I did was put a 155 jet in it from the stock 160. |
I have a 1988,1990,1992 lt250r and a 1987,1989 lt500.
My lt500 is stock bought it from a guy who bought it new for his 12yr old. That wasn't a bright ideal so I give him a grand and an 98 blaster for it. I love all my bikes not to upset anyone but love my two strokers and hate the four chokers. I have my 1990 lt stripped down and I am rebuilding the motor and repainting frame. The lt's by far was the best bikes on the market in their day and today. I can jump on any of my bikes one kick fire up and will eat any of the stock quads out there. I own a banshee aswell but it can't hang to well gotta soup it up and it will shame. Funny how a twin 2stroke with almost 100cc more can't beat the Lt's. Love old school power! |
91 lt 250r
1991 quadracer lt 250r
keihn pwk carb wiseco piston an rods widened rear axel, knn filter and at some times uni oiled filter had cool head fmf gold series inch drop in front maxis rear tires moos throtle lever pivot works bearings gts racing bearings futur project 87 head fitted with cool head and 500r carberator and equivalent reed and rods ,besides this pretty much perfect has it is with the orange plastic and blue motor and frame looks nice as it is. or heck a haybussa turbo engin guess would be nice hahahsee. right now on a rather simple set up clock 125 kmh maybe 130 once well tuned , was told with oversized carb and some mods could come close to an outragous 170 guess that would no be a too long of a run for the quad since two stroke for pictures i have some on the site couldnt get the dirty ones on the site due to too much quality or doesnt handle hd photos |
