BADLT500R

Im sorry you are selling your 500R...Not really completely testing the DS650 and not racing it against the competition. You may not be pleased when the LT500 owners fly by your new DS650. Dont worry, they will still wave and smile on there way by!

In my opinion the suspension is not as awesome as everyone thinks it is. The quadzilla having 9.5" of travel on a 100Lb. lighter of a frame sounds like a winning combo to me. Look at the awesome stance of a stock quadzilla. Its more stable than any ATV ever dreamed and remains to have a low profile racing look with an amazingly light frame for its size...not a tall 4wd like ATV that weights enough to have racks on it. Dollar for dollar the quadzilla 500 engine will put out more power. It would be pricy to hop up the DS650 to deal with a 500R with a pipe...expecially with the heavyweight frame. I wouldnt bet the farm on this quad yet or you may be looking for a clean LT500 for sale.

When i left the last post I erased a couple of sentences before I submitted the reply. I am in no hurry to sale the 500 at this point. I still want to do a direct comparison between the two machines at the same location on the same day. Today was to be that day but the weather did not cooperate.

There is no doubt in my mind that my 500 will spank the new DS in a drag race but the problem is the 500 is a handfull. It takes more energy to ride it fast compared to the DS. I know everyone must be saying "How could this be?". On paper you would think the DS would be just as hard to ride because of its sheer size but it is not. In fact it feels lighter than my 500 I can ride it faster and for a longer period of time than my 500 and my 500 has Works Performance shocks front and rear and it still is nowhere near as smooth and balanced as the DS.

I do hate to sale the 500 and am embarrassed to admit this is the second time I have owned this same machine. I also want to point out that I have owned 4 others over the past 2 years so I am familiar with all the quirks. There may be hope yet. Big enough tax return = LT500R & DS 650 Time will tell but I will definitely be purchasing a DS!!!

I also want to point out that I have owned 4 others over the past 2 years so I am familiar with all the quirks. There may be hope yet. Badlt500r,
If we must lose you to the Ds then have fun on your new ride and report back on how it does, I got to ride one around the parking lot at my friends dealership and it was pretty cool, but it wasn't my 500. There is just something about the 500 that won't let me go. I am 230lb's so throwing the beast around doesn't bother me. I guess it is like the old bikers with their panhead motorcycles, yeah they can be a pain in the a$$ but they just love em. The thing that surprised me was that with all hype and new technology that came with the DS it took over 6 weeks for someone to buy the one at my friends dealership? Yeah it is 7 grand but his dealership is popular and he sells sleds that cost over 10 grand with no problem and we haven't had any good snows in about 4 years. He also sells polaris sportsmans that go about $6500 with no problem. I knew that the DS was coming when I built my latest Zilla, And I have at least 7 Grand in to her at this point, Yes I am eating 99 cent cheeseburgers now to save money--LOL, But that damn Zilla just keeps calling me. Well I hope you get to keep both rides that would be truly Ideal. See ya

They are getting ready to have a shoot out between DS and a decked out honda 250 race quad, so their is no reason not to run it against the LT500R, maybe if we got everyone to write or e-mail dirtwheels a few hundred times they would give in.

I think you are right. We should e-mail Dirt Wheels and demand a test between the LT and the DS. The DS is closer in form and function to a LT500 than any of the other machines it was tested against except maybe a Banshee.

On a second note my wife is re-entering the workforce so just maybe I'll be keeping my LT500 after all. It will be my secret weapon when someone beats my DS in a race (lol).

I dont understand your statement. You think a banshee is more like a DS650 then a LT500? I dont think a banshee and DS650 share anything in common....except being sport quads

Honestly the reason you see and hear so much about honda and yamaha in the tests is ADVERTISING MONEY!!!

Suzuki have very few if any ads in atv magazines and also yamaha and honda did not quit making sport quads, and by supporting those companies you will hear more articles about their quads. I own a lt250r, so I am not anti-suzuki.... this is just what I think.

I think if suzuki gets back into the sport market they will get the name back in the mags. And always remember that suzuki will rule forever!

For what it's worth, I emailed a letter to 4-Wheel ATV Action about not having any Quadracers in their recent 'ultimate hi-perf shootout'. Probably fell on deaf ears, but I feel like they have as much, or maybe more, right to be there as the TRX250R. After all, which major manufacturer made the first true sport 4-wheeler? I don't think it was Honda...
