LT won't start with new pwk carb
I'm trying to set up a 35 pwk, non a/s, on my 86 LT. I have it set up with the 'stock' settings - 160 main, 68 pilot, DGK needle with clip in middle position, air screw 1-1/2 turns out. From what I've heard other people are running, I'm pretty sure that I'm running rich but I was planning on working it down based on plug readings.
I kicked it over till I almost passed out and it never even tried to start. Any suggestions? |

It was running great with the stock carb. The jettting was right on the money. I didn't look at the plug. I'll do that tonite as well as check the electrical connections

Sammy, I think your way to rich on the low end 68 seems really big I'm running a 38pwk and I started out with a 55 pilot and drop to a 52 and she run spot on now.

I am running a 155 main on mine. The rest of the settings are how the carb came from the factory. I bolted it on and it fired right up. No problems at all. My quad even idled finally

That's what I was thinking, I just wanted a second opinion. If you guys are running 52 and 55 pilots in 38mm pwk's then if I drop to a 55 I should still expect to be a little bit rich in my 35, right? At least it should start. I wonder why the default setting from keihin is a 68 if that seems way too rich for everybody? Thank fellas.

A 68 is way to rich I would start with a 55 and go up or down from there.

I dropped the pilot to a 55, clip up one notch from middle, new plug, good spark....still no dice. The plug that was in there last night was black. The new one I put in today comes out wet after I try to kick it a bunch of times.
