My Z400 frame has two seasons of hard a$$ recreational desert riding on it, with no problems and no cracks in the frame anywhere. I did put a Arens Bros. brace on the front shock mounts after the first season, just to hedge my bets. Anyway, I am thinking of racing this bike beginning in September, so I don't have a lot of time to tear it down and gusset the frame. Do I dare ride it as it is, or am I inviting disaster??? Or, do I ride it and if it cracks, just get a newer updated frame? Are the newer frames really any stronger? Would a new frame also need to be gusseted anyway?
