Aftermarket CDI's for Z400.. Is there a difference?

Hey all,

While considering what upgrades to do to my Z400, an Aftermarket CDI is one of the options.

I know Yoshimura makes one, as does about 5 other companies that i have found so far. Is there any difference between the different brands, other then Cost?

Is there a reason to spend more on say the Yoshimura?

Thanks!

What all improvements do you see? Is it just being able to rev it higher and not hit the limiter? and by how much?

I think u have't to buy the plug to reprogram the dyna so that u can hook it up to a laptop computer I heard it was a lot of trouble if u didn't have some compter wiz in that kind of stuff.

The software shouldn't be hard to install, the main times I have seen problems are when people have installed other software that tries to use the same serial port. Even then, its usually a simple fix. Read the instructions that come with it before you install it, and it should go smoothly. And as far as programming with it, it is pretty straightforward. You don't need to be a computer pro to use it, I tried to make it easy to understand and work with when I designed it. The pics on the dyna website show screen shots, etc.

The LTZ ignition has a few curves programmed into it, that you can select between with a flip of a switch. So you only need the software if you want to program in something beyond what the 4 preprogrammed curves offer.

Brad
