King Quad Break In Time
#1
I Just Picked up my brand new King Quad and I am very excited. It is my first quad. I wanted to know about the break in period the guy at the dealership said to run it till it got hot then let it get coll and repeat till I was threw the first tank of gas. the manual said ride a different speed but not to exced 1/2 throttle for ten hour. I wanted to go wheeling this weekend. Will this hurt my quad. What is yall's opion on quad break in time.
Thanks for your input in advance!!!!!!

Congrats! Of couse it won't hurt it, that's what it's for. Two schools of thought on break-in are; break it in like you're going to ride it, and the other is what you read in the manual. I've never heard the run it till it's warm, shut off, repeat that your dealer told you.
I would just ride it. Don't pin the thottle for long periods, don't cruise down the highway at a steady spead, don't lug it or ride real slow for long times. Other than that just be aware of how much your fan is running, mine runs quite a bit and will usually kick on when I stop, I think it will run cooler once it gets broke in and cooler still once I switch to synthetic.
How do you like the KQ so far?? I like mine more evrytime I ride. Good luck.

I'll share my experience.
I have two Vinsons and broke them in differently.
For the first, I followed the manual and didn't go past half throttle for 100 mi.
For the second I rode it hard the whole time.
Now, after close to 3000 mi. on each, the first one has less transmission noise, and has smoother acceleration. I wish I had followed the manual.
Good luck and have fun.
