Default future king quad owners

After much deliberation and research i chose the king quad over the grizzly. I was concerned with the reliability of the reverse and made numerous calls to the Suzuki headquaters in California as to these failures and what suzuki would do about them. According to their customer service Rep. the new ecm would take care of this issue and any failures would be covered. I asked so what if the reverse still
went out or what happens after the six months warranty expires? The rep stated that Suzuki would still stand behind their product and work with the king quad owners. I would sugest if you are going to buy the king make sure it has the new ECM. Any king quad made before jan.05 needs the new ecm. The identifying number on the new ECM is part number 32920-31G01. So far i am very pleased with the king quad . Now bring on the weekends!!!! I did the same thing. I almost bought the Grizzly and when I went to the dealer to buy it, I saw the King Quad there. It had all the features I wanted, so I bought it and am glad I did. I think the reverse issue is getting blown out of proportion. You shouldn't have to be in reverse for more than 30 seconds let alone 60 seconds. As far as the rev limiter in reverse, most quads have that. My Raptor had a reverse limiter which was a real pain. At least the King has a built in overide. I am very happy I went with the King.

Thanks Guys for this thread and the POSITIVE feedback. It is REFRESHING! I also am going to buy a King...probably this week. I have been following the reverse issue but have had some misgivings about the almost fanatical anti-Suzuki tone that some feel that they must demonstrate. Sure, I'm concerned about this however, I am not going to let this taint the reputation that this company has earned from me.

Well, I hope you get an extended warranty and a good purchase price on it, since the depreciation is bound to be hurtful considering all of the bad press surrounding the reverse issue. I have less than 100 miles on mine, and I really am happy with the performance, but had I to do it over again I would have waited. I think that when you see this many failures at such low mileage as being reported it is only a matter of time for thousands more to fail after warranty. The best buy on an extended warranty is from a Suzuki dealer on ebay for $400. Good luck!

The problem is not all hype. I just had mine go out after the new ecm. I had already riden it 3 time siththe new ecm so I t was not alrady broken. I was barely using reverse when it went out. it timed out once the just let go about five seconds into the second attempt. I was not in a deep mud hole the thinq was justa litttle high centered. I did not have the the thing any where close to the rev limiter with over ride engaged. I was being very gentel I wanted to keep riding not whinch out the lot up and go home with the day only starting. It really suched!X!X!X!
