589's on a 400
I have a 04 suzuki 400 eiger 4x4 and im planning of getting some tires for it, either 589 26' or 27' which of these sizes would be better for the atv i would like to get 27' if possible and would the tires be fine to put on my 400.

27 inch 589's would probably be to heavy for the Eiger, you would see alot of power loss, even though the Eiger has good power. Might think about 25's or 26's. You could go with 27 inch MudLites, they are a much lighter tire than the 589. Either one of them would be a good mud tire.

Go with mud lites or if you have an auto just do a clutch kit for over sized tires

What about 25" Mudlite XL's. THey are stock size, so you wont have the power loss of the larger tire, and they are lighter than most mud tires. Plus if you buy the XL's instead of the AT's you get the deep lugs just like the 26"+ tires.

My Dad has 26" Mud Lite XL's on his quad. Its a Twin Peaks 700. He has had it almost a year, and the tires still look brand new. So as far as wear goes, his are wearing fine. Like I said before they look brand new. I am gonna get 25" inchers on my Bruin this summer.
EDIT* As far as trail riding goes, they are still a good tire. Thats what we maily do is trail ride, only time we are in the mud is if there is a hole along the way. |
