UNI vs K&N
im runnin a uni air filter on my z 250, everyone else seems to be using a K&N. is K&N better (as in getting more air to engine) than uni? what about the twin air filters? oh, and if i get an outerwears prefilter would it be safe to run with the air box lid off cuz it seems like there is noway much air gets in there with that thing on. and where can i find the prefilter for the uni, i always find em for K&N?

The K&N filters are typically less restrictive than UNI filters, and the price is usually higher also. As far as the prefilters, K&N offers a line of filters that clamp directly onto the carburetor eliminating the airbox entirely. This setup requires a prefilter since the air filter is exposed to the elements. These setups are usually for extreme HP motors and probably not the best choice for a Z250.
Keep in mind that I have no specific knowledge of the Z250 and what these 2 air filter companies offer for this particular bike. But for the LT quadracers and other large bore 4 stroke sport quads, everything I said was correct.

the only reason alot of people swear by K&N's is because u cant over oil them like a foam filter. alot of people over oil foam filters and they think they feel down on power because its only a foam filter, so they get a k&n and they r like wow[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] when in reality the foam filter(properly oiled) makes just as much power as the k&n(which is less reliable).
