it all depends on the condition of the bike i bought mine about 4 years ago it really good shape with everything stock even the pipe and tires for 1800. Yes it i the same as the other bike as far as i know. I am more knoledgeable about the changes with the LT250r (alwasy working on it)

The 1987 model was the first model and have some diff between the 88-90 model. The have a larger intake and produce more power, the have a 6 stud cylinder head wheras the 88-90's have 7 studs so the are prone to blow head gaskets this can be fixed by putting in bigger studs. Check the base gasket under the reed cage the gasket tends to blow on this area with them all, but can be solved with a new gasket and some instant gaket. All zillas are prone to spin the main bearings in the cases and you have to get steel inserts put in, to check for this take off the ignition cover and grasp the flywheel, if there is any movement this needs to be done. Also another diff is the upper a-arms on the 87 had one fixing point (a bolt ran all the way through) whereas the 88-90 a-arms have two fixing points like most a-arms. I think I've covered everything
