Spark arrestor won't come out?
 

Are they all that way?

The manual for my Suzuki Eiger clearly shows removing the spark arrestor for routine cleaning. You can remove the small bolt in tail pipe, but the arrestor won't budge. Believe me, I tried hard. Is that thing welded in there? I even removed bolt & rode machine till it got hot thinking it would expand & be easier to remove. No joy. It looks like the part inside muffler may be larger that the exit hole in pipe. No big deal, but wondered why they show the procedure in manual when you can't actualy remove the thing?

I don't know what the eiger spark arrester looks like but the one on my 05 vinson, i took the bolt from under the tip out and used 2 small prybars and it popped right out. I left mine out, sounds way better. Hope this helps!

I tried 2 small sections of rebar & twisted my gutts out. Even to the point of starting to deform the arrestor. I also squirted some liquid wrench around it thinking that may help. Maybe they changed in 06 & can't be removed. I'll call delaer when I get a chance & see what they say.

i got a visegrips stuck on mine and then hit the visegrips with a hammer....crude..but it did what i wanted...you'll be apt to drive it without the spark arrestor in there...it sounds good [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

My spark arrester was a B I T C H to get out... let me tell you. Mine looks like crap now because after only 50 miles or so carbon and a very very slight skiff of corrosion had made it "stuck" in the muffler, and I had to physically assault it to make it come free. The little allen screw underneath is really tight, and the fit is really really tight. I did notice a small performance difference with the arrester out. Just a small consideration... allthough it is a tad louder.

Mine was difficult to remove as well. I cut the screen off so I wouldn't have to remove again.
