lowering the z for the ice
I don't have any picts to post of the filter to carb because my motor is pulled from the frame right now. The reason IU used the UNI filter was because I removed the stock airbox and snorkle in order to add a lowering kit to my Z400 to get it even lower than with a over the counter lowering kit that only lowers the rear of the bike about 2 inches by changing the lower shock mount angle. I made an additional kit that also changes the upper shock angle to lower the bike another 4 inches (aprox). In order to change the upper shock angle I had to get rid of the stock snorkel. The only air filter I could find that would fit was the UNI. Also, the fact that it is very flexible was a plus. The K&N filter I tried using off my son's Predator 90 (w/28 mil carb) just to see what would work was way to long and wouldn't flex where I needed it. So I went with the UNI. I run K&N on all my other race quads.
The only draw back of taking out the airbox is you have to go to a bigger jet. I found a 165/7 jet worked well in my alltitude.
Hope this helps. Once the bike is back together I try and post some picts. I'm gusseting the frame frame at this time.
