new to forum and atv's!

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to this forum and to atv's in general. I just bought an 01 quadmaster 500. I would like to know if anyone has any problems or tips for this bike. I notice the transmission is hard to shift from high to neutral. Is this common? I have stock sized mud lites on it and would like to go up one size to 26 inch and use the 589's. Will I have enough power to do this?

Thanks for your help and info.

I went for a good ride today with my daughter on a logging road, and it's starting to get muddy and greasy. I'm running 25x10x12" mud lites on the rear with about 1/2 life on them. A friend at work has some 26x12x12" 589's almost new he wants to sell. Do you think my bike can move these OK in the mud and bush? I don't want to sacrifice too much since there is already a big weight difference between the two.

Thanks again,

Welcome! I bought the identical unit used about a year ago. Don't know how I ever lived without it in the past. Has been pretty much trouble free. The one tip that has stuck in my mind is to come to a complete stop before shifting in or out of 4WD. Apparently some issues if you don't. Use the search feature on this site and read and learn a bit more about it before you start switching tires. Have fun!
