im planning on getting a lt250r rolling chassy. needs motor, tranny, and carb. im pickin it up for around $400. i wanted to put a 250r from a honda in it, but will it fit without changing the mounts. what other motors would fit in it without having to change the mounts.

my extra 87 lt250 motor will . lol if yours is 88-92chassis

87 has a different motor than the 88-92 but they all bolt into the same frame, 91-92 have a different rear shock set-up but same motor.

Dirt bike motors are not counterbalanced and will vibrate severely... Been there, broke/cracked that.

 

I wouldn't consider putting in a 250R motor if it were me. That swap takes a lot of frame modifications, and there's very little benefit over the original LT250 motor. (The only benefit being there are more aftermarket upgrades available for the R) If you don't have an LT250 motor, consider searching for an LT500 motor, although they are harder to come by. The mods for installing one of these into an LT250 frame are very minor, and it's a fairly common swap with LOTS of advantages over the LT250 powerplant.
