LT250R won't start...
 
I just bought a 250R... But I can't get it started. It won't kick. We tried to push it and got it started for a second then it shut off. What could it be? The carb is not stock. Has a twist throttle. Could it be a carb issue? Anything else I should check? Any info would be appreciated... Thanks!

Well, engines need three things to run, compression, spark and fuel. If you have compression and you have strong spark, then your problem is in your fuel delivery.

I took the carb off and cleaned it I have to go get some premix oil today. What ratio should be run?

When I try to kick start it, it seems to be getting a weak spark. Only way we got it to run was to push start it.

The petcock on the gas tank is messed up, do they sell those? It says Mikuni on it as well...

As for the spark what could it be? Stator? how do I check it? Or how can I check if it's geting a good spark?

for the gas mixture i run 40:1. It has worked fine for me, but anywhere inbetween 35:1 and 40:1 is good. sometimes diferend bikes run better with differend ratios. For your weak spark issue i would first try what i tried when i had that problem, check the spark plug wire to spark plug cap connection. Sometimes it cames loose or the wire can begin to corrode. After that it could be in the stator or CDI box.

For your pre-mix, run what the back of the bottle recommends. Each oil company uses different viscosities that require different ratios for proper lubrication. For your spark problem, first put in a new plug, if you haven't already and check it. If you still have a weak spark with a new plug, start with the basics, make sure you have clean ground contacts, and there aren't any uninsulated wires somewhere that are grounding where you don't want them too. If the wiring checks out, then start checking out actual electrical components.
