do a search on here, theres gotta be 1000 posts about this already

i'll sum them all up for you though, the z400 is better....newer design, liquid cooled and faster

both are sweet bikes, reliable as a quad gets....do a search and read up on it though, i was in the same boat as you a year ago

i guess id also like to throw in an '07 Predator in the mix cuz its 6k...not much more..ive never rode a predator i just wanna know how the motor responds and if it being at 405 lbs dry weight is a big deal vs. 370's or 380's on the 400's although the polaris is a 500 i guess..also how do they all do in acceleration in stock form and for top end

The predator straight across the board is a faster ATV then both with better handling.

It comes with Fox shocks stock. Razr tires. as well
The 500CC motor has a lot more snort then the 400's.

This is not because i own a predator I like all brands but I've got a lot of seat time on the 400's and the predator is faster and handles better.

Quad magazine cited the Polaris a having a lack of "craftsmenship", so enough said about that. History repeats itself over and over once again at the Polaris factory........

I have owned both the EX and Z, and both are excellent machines......and very similar. Actually, Suzuki made an EX knockoff, and gave it more engine and a little better suspension. Both engines respond well to some simple mods, but the Z more so than the EX.

I really prefer the EX on very tight trails. Its motor doesn't mind being lugged down, so you can ride it slow through tight technical sections. The Z's engine likes to rev (but not as much as say the 450's), so I like it for faster trails and more open country.

ok so ill be doing a lot of fast trails, open country and a track here and there...would a 450 be better for that?

Does the Predator motor like to rev?

Thanks..

All the 450's like to rev. I like my R for fast riding in the wide open desert! It handles fast trails nicely, but in the real tight slow stuff it is a pain because you have to work the clutch. It is great for casual track riding, but for serious track it will need some mods.

I've owned my predator for 2 years and my friend has an 03 Zero problems to date.
you guys really need to get over your if it's called a polaris it's going to break because thats not true. If it was they would go belly up.
I've owned everything and they all break if not taken care of.
My friend sold off his 450R because it was nothing but problems.

Just don't count polaris out because you *think* it's no good.
The predator is a good machine with reverse.
It's a much faster all around better machine then both the 400's.

Predator is a DOHC motor so yes it likes to rev.

450R is a better motorcross ATV it's lighter.

In GNCC the predator has been doing just as well as the 450R.

Outlaw KTM525 is being better then both at GNCC
