Need help with ozark 250/won't stay running
I have two 04 and one 05 ozark 250's. they are all having the same problem. When i can get them to start with the choke on they run for a short period of time but sputter and pop sometimes backfire when givin gas. I cleaned the plug and the carb off of one and and still no luck. I don't know wether it is the valves or the jets or what. Can anyone give me some advice?

Could need valves adjusted or could be crap gas! A lot of people where i live with atvs have trouble with running sertain(sp) fuels. Something they add to the gas quads and dirtbikes dislike

All 3 doing the same thing??? Got any enemies? Somebody put something in your gas or you got bad gas somewhere. Why would all 3 suddenly need a valve adjustment?

I had a problem with bad gas. Drain and put some fresh gas in one and see how it does. Do you have a in-line fuel filter on any of them. It would help.

I did not change the gas out but i did use some seafoam additive. it usually helps break up any sludge and flush it out. do you know of a particular brand of gas that seems to work better? Thanks for the reply

No enemies that i know of. They would have a hell of a time getting to my rides anyway. My thoughts exactly about the valves. I guess I will try gas of a different brand. That sounds like it would make most sense. Thanks for the reply

Gas seems to be the main topic. I do have the factory inline filters on the fuel cock. I took it out and apart and cleaned it. Somewhere else I read the diaphragm in the fuel cock was bad with someone else's atv. Do you know anything about this? doesn't make sense to me that a spring and plunger would wear out in 3 years. I also read that the vacuum tube may have something to do with it. Any more suggestions? I will change the gas out today and reply with th outcome. Thanks Everybody for the support.

Its either gas or air... They are the only common denominators. Other than that you would have to have some really funky luck to have 3 machines screw up the same way at the same time.

How long has that gas been sitting in those machines? Gas starts to break down after about 60 days. Some people don't ride as much in the winter.
Be sure to add some fuel stabilizer to each tank when you change out the gas so it lasts months without riding. |
