That was the part that killed me he had only started riding last fall. I told buddy that my son even though he has been riding since he was 4 and is now 16 just got a 250 this feb. he was riding the 160 as a in between machine. started him on a 70cc then a 90 then 160 now 250. Yea it cost a lot to keep buying machines but I love my kids too much to take a chance to save a few bucks

well mudgeek, that's one of the ironies, IMHO. People want to buy a quad 2 sizes too big so they last their kid longer (just like how dad used to buy my hockey skates!). But I moved my kids through the whole range... LT50, LT80, Raptor 80, Breeze 125, LT160, Honda 250EX. Everytime I sold a used one, I bought a good used one. Beside the maintenance and repairs, I usually came very close to breaking even. So I felt like each quad was temporarily rented, and for very little $$. Now if I went thru a dealer and bought new every time, it would have cost me a fortune.

So here's the story, my neighbour ,my son and myself ride together. saturday morn the neighbor wants to know if his 12 yr old nephew can ride along with us I say no problem . while I go get ready the 12 yr olds dad dropped him off and the machine he drops him off to ride with is a 800 polaris and the kid has a friend to ride on the back. I said sorry to the neighbor I'm not comfortable with this. my son and I will take a pass . The neighbour says they will be fine I say sorry but a 12 yr old on a 800 is just trouble looking to happen . so now he gets pissed and tells me I'm just being an ass and thats the end of riding with me and my son. I say sorry you feel that way but it just seems wrong to me . So am I wrong?</end quote></div>

So this was his 12-year-old nephew and a friend? (I assume both around the same age?)

Had you any communication with the parents of the other child?

Actually, if a plaintiff's attorney got hold of this, you probably didn't have parental consent for either child.

While Canada is not near as litigious as the USA, I'd say you avoided two potential law suits, and possible child neglect or endangerment charges that day. Good job!

Does this neighbor have children of his own? If not two words: Chemical Castration!

it's a lot closer than you think. really depends on the individual, and magnitude of injury.

you did the right thing, its everywhere though, last summer i was out at our local sand pits riding and there was a kid ,he must have been like 9-10 yrs old on a big sportsman riding, around with some other kids , he looked tiny on that machine, he could have been younger , but in any case he should have been on a smaller machine i think

I won't let any body ride a machine of mine until they can show me they know the controls and how there sapposed to ride ,they do a static demonstration , then a slow crawl before they can ride .
