Look just in front of the right side real wheel - there is a 3/4" diameter sight glass that shows oil level. You'll want to fill oil until that sight glass is 3/4 to 7/8ths full. It's been too long since I've changed the oil in a KQ, but I'm thinking that it should take around 3 qts.

My old 93' LT4WD 300 KQ held almost 4 qts. with oil filter change , warm the engine up to normal operating temp before you remove the oil plug drain being carefull of getting your hand or fingers burn't by the hot oil ; you don't have to get the engine hot before draining the oil but the warmer it is the more gunk will come out with the old oil !

While the oil is draining you can now remove the oil filter cover being carefull to see how the filter & spring is positioned , if you're using an O.E.M. Suzuki oil filter there will be a mark showing the correct direction of the filter to engine crankcase and cover ; if you install the oil filter pointing the wrong direction the oil won't pump through the system and will damage your engine !

I always pour 3 1/4 qts. in the crankcase filler hole , then start the engine letting it idle a few minutes while checking for any oil leaks ; then shut down the engine and let it sit 5 minutes then slowly add oil untill the oil level in the sight glass is 1/2 to 3/4 mark of sight glass any more than that is overful and can blow seals !

The 89' Suzuki LT4WD 250 QuadRunner thru 93' Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ and my 2006 Arctic Cat FIS 400 Auto 4x4 Suzuki Powered 376cc all hold about the same amount of oil with the oil filter change , i've been doing the maintence on these machines since 1989 ; and the only difference between the 3 is the fact that the AC 400 has a spin on Automotive type oil filter and a screw in dip stick in the filler hole instead of a sight glass !........
