WOW how much money do you have ? cause your going to have to spend a bunch to make that happen.
you would be better off getting a YFZ, and do a cam mod and open up the air box, then its just a matter of making sure he does not do the same. |

About a 20 shot of N2O should do it. |

you should not lose by that much... in my drags against those machines, i lose by only few lengths.... thats when we ran stock for stock.

Z400 VS YZF450
yeah major diffrence between the two machines. the YFZ is a master piece by yamaha and its actually better then thier raptors. To keep up is going to be a challenge let alone beat him...good luck

Z400 VS YZF450
Well I can tell you that top speed my z400 will actually pull on my buddy's yfz450...... if we are both pinned in 5th his gearing will top out before mine.......
But it depends on what you mean by "keep up" ....... if he is stock and you are modded you should keep up enough to stay a few lengths behind him. I can hang right behind stock 450s with no problem...... no I could never pass them as they pull away out of each turn a little more. I could never win a race unless the 450 rider crashes....lol..... But in trail riding and fun riding, I can ride with 450s all day and not get left behind...... being 2-3 seconds back in a race is an eternity.....but being 2-3 seconds back on a trail ride is nothing..... |

Z400 VS YZF450
It just so happens I bought a '03 Z400 for my stepson, '06 YFZ-450 for me and my buddy bought a 05' Raptor 660 all at about the same time. I have ridden all of them quite a bit and I wouldn't trade my YFZ for any of them! The Z400 is a good trail quad, but leaves a lot to be desired. The Raptor has a lot of suspension travel and hauls ass on the top end, but is a little slow around the trails (too heavy feeling). My YFZ has it all light weight, agility, and great power. As you might can tell, we trail ride most of the time, but if we get in a large open field the Raptor will eat the YFZ alive and the Z400 is a "NO SHOW"(lol).
Mods: '03 Z400 - K&N, jetted, airbox lid removed '06 YFZ-450 - K&N, jetted, aibox lid removed, stock spark arrestor removed, 13T pinion '05 Raptor - K&N, jetted, airbox lid removed, slip-on FMF exhaust |
