87 Lt 125 fuel lines and axle questions

Default 87 Lt 125 fuel lines and axle questions

Fuel lines:
Where would i buy new lines for this machine? what would the measurements be and preferably i would like a see through kind so i can see the fuel moving, new to restoring, and is there possibly little filters i could put somewhere in between the lines before the fuel makes it to the carb? then i can see the fuel there aswell.

Axle:
The machine i have the axle and hub splines are shot, the hub can spin on the axle freely, they were welded when we got the machine i just never knew, is it possible to get them re-splined somehow? and how much would it cost? is it better just to get it re-welded when i am ready?

Brake shoe material:
what is it? and where would be the cheapest to get it and how is it put on?

Thank you all who answers i am new to all of this and mainly teaching myself i am 17 and still getting used to all of this and where to get all i need, much appreciated!

You haven't mentioned the model. You can get axles built up and re-splined but it is usually cheaper to buy new or used replacements, you would need new hubs as well, anyway. I tend not to weld hubs on the brake side of an axle, as they have to come off again regularly, on the opposite end, the hub only needs to come off for bearing replacement, so I would weld it on, particularly if the axle is expensive to replace.

Unless you have a machine that is extremely rare, new brake shoe assemblies are easier to buy than new linings, they are (now) always bonded to the backing, and it is a specialist job bonding new linings on. Aftermarket shoes are cheap and easy to get.

Forgot to mention fuel lines. I think the "health and safety police" have banned see through fuel pipe as it breaks easily, and melts when hot. You can still get it for lawnmowers, and I think there is some for cars/bikes, but is almost opaque and expensive. Any lawnmower or motorcycle shop will have fuel line and "in line" filters, but you need to know the inside diameter of pipe you require.

Sorry bout that, as far as I know the model is a 1987 Lt 125 H and I tried finding a new axle on online places and only found one used one on eBay for a $130 which is a little steep of a price for what I wanna pay overall and the Hubs were hard to find in the 4 bolt setup. Thank you for the help much appreciated.
