Suzuki LT230S with Ninja 500 2cyl engine

This was a friends bike who was killed in a motorcycle accident. Working on fixing it up. Will post more here as I go along with it. I currently need some parts for the bike:

1. Plastics and Tank. I have the seat, but need the plastics and the tank, I want them all in Black only.

2. Info on the bearings and frame/suspension mods for this bike.

3. Info on mods to the rear brake to make the pad stop falling out, and parts to rebuild the front brakes. I have calipers and some lines, but need the other stuff that goes up on the handle bars, master cylinder brake lever, line down to the splitter fitting etc...

4. Throttle parts? Current has twist throttle on it, works, but is raggedy, not sure if it came from the original Ninja donor bike or with the LT230S.

We currently have it running well, it runs 90+ mph on the pavement, but the tires are crap that are on it now so after new tires we can open it up a bit more. We extended the factory swingarm 4" to make the bike a little more manageable.

Here is a teaser pic, it's a RAGGEDY bike I know, but we got it this way from my friend who got it from someone else, blah blah, we are going to fix it up nice.

Here is a daylight pic before we extended the swingarm, pic above was in the dark in the shop after we did the swingarm.

Wow, you definitely need to post a vid of this thing running when you're done.

Will do. It's VERY loud, as it's just straight pipe. RPM range is 4000-9000, well, it will rev to 11,500rpm but that's high enough 9000 is where it starts to drop back down so it's a good shift point. Got lots of cleaning up, rewiring, and relocating stuff to make it nice.

Anybody got some plastics for this bike? Black ones is what I am after, going for the all black and alluminum look. I see I can buy them new from a place or two, but hey, if I could save a few $$ with some used plastics that aint bad shape then that would cool. Also question, is the factory tank part of the front plastics or does the plastic just sit over the top of it?

I like the plastics on this bike. Where do I get plastics like these?

I ask because I've seen what seems to be different styles, some seem to have no front fenders period, other seem to have like "half-fenders" or something. I like the way these look on this bike.

Rocky Mountain Atv.com is where i got my black plastics. Free shipping!!

Can you post me a link? I looked on their website but cannot seem to find any plastics. How long ago did you get yours?

Trailrider230s 02-27-2010 09:13 PM

www.rockymountainatvmc.com. First at the top of the screen select the model of quad, which in your case would lt230s quadsport 1986? all the plastics interchange on the quadsport models. And i just got my plastics like a week ago. the link you need to click on while youre on the website is "body parts machine specific". not universal. if you want to see what the new plastics look like just swing over by my profile. i have a pic in there of my black plastics.

Black Fronts:
Maier Front Fender | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC

Black Hood:
Maier Hood, Vented | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC

Black Rears:
Maier Rear Fender | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC

Prices are NUTS! I've yet to see someone with the kinda bada$$ dark blue plastics.

BTW, the pic you posted is Malhombre's wheeler, he's a member on these forums. And there seems to be a lot of different styles because people cut them to style.

Also, sorry to here about your friend.
