Just had carb rebuilt it bogs when you give throttle. It also backfires like a muther...is that timing?
sounds like too much gas... did you adjust the mixture screws? or did you put them back where they were?
When you rebuild a carb you have to dial it back in with the mixture screws. It sounds like it's running lean. It doesn't take much fuel for the idle circuit but it takes more fuel when opening the throttle. If you have ever had low fuel in the fuel tank in your atv and at idle it will run good but try and give it some gas it will bog down, not enough gas going to the main circuit.

but with the backfire wouldn't that be too much gas?
Yes a rich condition can cause it to pop/backfire but a lean condition can also cause it to pop/backfire. Improper valve clearance can also cause it to pop/backfire.
A quick way to tell if it's rich or lean is to take air box lid off, if it runs better then it is a little rich. If it gets worse then it's a little lean. You could also start it up bog it down then check the spark plug for fuel, if it's bone dry then it's lean. If it's really wet then it's running rich. |
Can you tell me how to set the timing? I see a square on back of the gear where should that line up when i have i top dead center? Should it be at the 12 position on a clock? I need help!!!
