Can't remove the brakes!
For some reason, the front right brake drum will NOT come off of my 1988 Quadrunner!!
I have tried prying it, smaking it with the wheel on ... and off! I have soaked it in penetrating oil .... nothing .... I need to remove this so I can put on new brakes!!! Thanks ... oh yeah, it's on the front ! |
you may have to take the cable end loose from the pivot on the back of the wheel and use a pair of pliers and make sure the pivot is totally loose. then it should come off

I don't have a cable on the backside. They are hydraulic brake drums.

The pistons in the wheel cylinder are stuck. Suzuki is bad about doing that. I have had better luck getting the drum off by removing the bleeder screw on the cylinder and prying and pecking ( not to hard) on the drum. Clean the cylinder, pistons and reassemble. I use a piece of 1/2" pcvc pipe with 2 slits cut it it and wrap a piece of emery cloth in the slits for a hone. Make sure the pistons move freely in the cylinder.
