Z400 Temperature Light Issue

Hi guys,

I have a bone stock 2004 Suzuki Z400 with pretty low hours and after easy riding for 30 minutes or so, the red temperature light comes on. I've checked the coolant and oil levels and they look great, and my radiator fan is working correctly too. I also cleaned the radiator fins carefully to ensure that air can pass through. I'm not sure if it really means anything, but the coolant level in the reservoir does not appear to fluctuate as the engine warms up or cools down.

I tried letting the quad idle in my garage for a great deal of time (maybe 30 minutes or more), but the light did not come on. It only seems to come on after a while of riding.

I searched the forum and read many related overheating threads, but couldn't find anyone describing the same symptom.

Any thoughts, questions or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

if you open the radiator cap you should see it at least moving in there a little. you may have water pump issues
