synthetic oil?

hey all i have a 06 ozark 250 that got a complete engine overhaul 14 hours ago. i am thinking of switching to synthetic oil. is 14 hours enough time on the motor to switch to synthetic and what kind, type, brand, and weight would you recommend? right now i am running valvoline motorcycle and atv oil.10w40? might be 20w50. any input? thanks!

Amsoil 0w-40 great in ant ATV at all temp ranges. I think it only comes in 0w-40. and its made for wet clutches also.

I thought amsoil also came in a 10w40. I like mobil 1 for my clutch. But use amsoil for my pre mix. Both are great oils. As far as 14 hours I'm not sure. That sounds about right to me.

Synthetic in the clutchs eh.....I didn't think you could do that.
I gotta look into that stuff. :)

on low hp machines its not such a big deal to use the stuff , on big hp units not a good idea, good for the engin but not the clutch

As long as its motorcycle grade, no street bike does not have a wet clutch and no body with a 100 plus HP street rocket would use conventional oil.

That explains that. Thanks.:)
I've been into the race scene more than any so that must be why I was told it's a no-no in the clutchs.
My daughter used Mobile1 in the motor side and 10-40 in the clutch side of her 450R.
