troubleshooting checklist for lt250r running rich
well i have had a recent thread about oil seal but decided to start checking everything to see what i could find. So heres where i am at...
-oil seal is good, no oil leaking into the cylinder -compression is good at 125 -car got new stock jets, a cleaning, and float level adjustment properly set according to clymer manual. -proper spark plug and properly gapped -stock everything else so anything i missed? help me out a new spark plug lasts 30 min before getting fouled and let me know what ratio you mix at |
try a 1 step hotter plug like a b7es.i have seen ignitions with weak spark do this.make sure its not rich on the pilot circuit
Well im using the spark plug it lists in the clymer manual but i had a hotter one in their before and it still ran too rich and fouled, can i check for the voltage of the spark plug? I just cant figure it out
What elevation are you at, what oil/fuel mixture are you using?
im in florida so about sea level i think highest it gets is 32 above sea level, and stock jet sizes and running 32:1
Well, you can mess with the needle clip setting, air fuel screw, drop the main jet down a size, try running even more oil in you're gas, but I think 32:1 is good.
do you ride it hard or just putt around letting it load up?dont let it idle too long...
most of the time i ride it pretty hard, and why would i want to run more oil? lol and air fuel is factory set but i could change it and see what i can do with that and maybe i got the wrong jets, they said the stock size but you never know
and why would i want to run more oil? |

More pre-mix oil = less gas, which means more lean. Suzuki recommends 20:1 for that engine.
