LT230S engine oil

I was wondering what oil is best for the 230S. I run rotella T in my yamaha, but not sure with the suzuki. I think the plug says sae 10-w30 but that cant be good for the clutch.

My cycle shop said they put 10w40 in everything that rolls in. the forum for my motorcycle swears by rotella t for wet clutches. Either one should be fine

I think oil is a matter of preference in some cases, but I've done alot of looking into it. That being said, Rotella is good for older flat tappet cam setups. The diesel oil still has some of the additives in it needed to keep flat tappets from going flat (mainly zinc). At the moment, one of the best on the markets is BradPenn (old Joe Gibbs racing oil). They specially formulate their racing oil (green stuff) for older flat tappet cams. They add extra quantities of zinc and other additives to keep cams healty. I wouldnt run it in anything with a cat, since these additives tend to eat them up, which is why modern day oils have had most of these additives removed.

You can read all you want about it here if you care to lok into it more :lmao:

Welcome!

I'd steer clear of synthetic motor oil, no matter what your choice.
Unless it's specially formulated for wet clutches, I think it's too slick for some components that require friction to work properly.
